Abstract This thesis is concerned with the analysis of drugs namely; cefdinir and telithromycin in drug substance and in pharmaceutical products using thermal, voltammetric, chromatographic and spectrophotometric techniques. Thermal characterization of these drugs was carried out uSlOg Thermogravimetry (TQ), Differential Thermogravimetry (DTG) and Differential thermal analysis (DTA) techniques. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were calculated applying Horowitz and Metzger method and Coats-Redfern method. Voltammetric method used involved the oxidation of cefdinir at carbon paste (CPE) and glassy carbon paste electrodes (GCE) in RB buffer of pH 7 and 8 for CPE and GCE, respectively. HPLC method applied for the determination of cefdinir used a mobile phase of phosphate buffer 0.05 M and pH 2.5: Acetonitrile 85: 15 v/v and was measured at 210 nm using UV detector. Three spectrophotometric methods; first derivative, charge-transfer (CT) and oxidation reactions were used for the determination of the drugs. ,3-dicloro- 5,6- dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DDQ) reagent was used as a reagent for CT method while potassium permanganate (KMn04) was used as oxidizing agent for the two drugs (Cefdinir, Telithromycin), and the two reagents (DDQ , KMn04) were used for the kinetic spectrophotometric determination of the studied drugs. Keywords: cefdinir, telithromycin, DDQ, KMn04, TG, DTG, DTA, MS, HPLC, Spectrophotometer, CPE, GCE. |
