Abstract This study concluded that diabetic patients had significantly higher fasting serum adiponectin levels than the control group with no statistical significant difference between T1DM and T2DM. The increase in circulating adiponectin concentrations in patients with T1DM appeared to be associated with long diabetes duration and waist circumference. On the other hand, pancreatic β-cell function is one of a significant regulator for serum adiponectin concentration in T2DM patients as serum adiponectin concentration was associated with C- peptide. Also, in T2DM adiponectin had significant negative association with DBP. and hypercholesterolemia indicating its protective role against metabolic complications of DM. |
