Abstract This chapter includes an overview of previous researches for complexes of guanidine ligands and their application II- Aim of the work The work aimed to prepare and characterize new guanidinum ligand and its metal complexes aiming to study their effects in the treatment of microbial and tumor diseases III- Experimental This chapter contains the chemical and machines used in Practical part of thesis as follow: 1) Preparation of the guanidine ligand and its metal complexes. 2) Characterization of the ligand and its complexes using: Physical techniques such as molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility Elemental analyses (C, H, N, Cl and M). Spectral techniques as IR, UV- Vis., 1HNMR, mass spectra and ESR measurements. Thermal techniques as DTA. and TGA 3) Measurement of biological activity Chapter : 1 English summary - 2 - iv. Results and discussion This chapter includes characterization of the ligand and its complexes. The ligand 2-(2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-guanidino)acetic acid was prepared as follow: 1- Condensation of urea with chloroacetic acid (1:1) for three hours to obtain 2-(carbamoylamino)acetic acid 2- Condensation of 2-(carbamoylamino)acetic acid with 4- aminobenzoic acid (1:1) for three hours to give 2-(2-(4- carboxyphenyl)- guanidino)acetic acid The rreaction of the ligand (2-(2-(4-carboxyphenyl)guanidino)acetic acid) with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Sr(II), Hg(II), Ag(I), Tl(I) and UO2(II) ion gave metal complexes which had been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV- Vis spectra, mass spectra, 1HNMR spectra, magnetic moments, conductances, thermal analyses (DTA and TGA) and ESR measurements. The IR data show that, the ligand behaves as neutral tridentate, (2), [(H2L)3Cu2(OAc)4(H2O)2].H2O, neutral bidentate, (3), [(H2L)Cu(OAc)2].1/2H2O, (13), [(H2L)2CuCl2(H2O)2], (17), [(H2L)Cu- (OOSO2)(H2O)3], dibasic hexadentate, (4), [(L)Ni4(OAc)6(H2O)10].4H2O, (5), [(L)Mn4(OAc)6(H2O)10].4H2O, (6), [(L)Co4(OAc)6(H2O)10].4H2O, monobasic bidentate, (7), [(HL)(UO2)(OAc) (H2O)3], (12), [(HL)2Cu], (15), [(HL)2Fe2(Cl4)(H2O)2].7H2O, (16), [(HL)2Cr2(Cl4)(H2O)2].7H2O, (21) |
