Abstract Age relared macular degeneration is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in people 50 years of age or older in the developed world. Beyond normal aging processes, LF accumulation in RPE is thought to represent a common downstream pathogenetic mechanism in various blinding hereditary and complex retinal diseases such as AMD (Pascolini D et aL2004) . Fundus auto fluorescence (F AF) imaging is a novel imaging method that allows topographic mapping of lipofuscin distribution in the retinal pigment epithelium cell monolayer as well as of other fluorophores that may occur with disease in the outer retina and the subneurosensory space (Steffen Schmitz-Valckenberg, et aL2009). This study was carried on 30 consecutive patients (50 eyes) already diagnosed to have AMD by FA and aCT , collected from those attended the outpatient clinic of ophthalmology department, Tanta university hospital during the period from March/20l2 to September120 12. After full history and complete ophthalmologic examination , F AF was done for all patients after pupillary dilatation with tropicamide 1 % . |
