Abstract

There has been a rising concern in reducing the energy consumption 10 building. Heating ventilation and air condition system is the biggest consumer of energy in building. In this study, management of the air conditioning system of building for efficient energy operation and comfortable environment is investigated.
There are two objectives of this work; the first is to synthesize a fuzzy-logic controller for the fan coil system of each room to control the room temperature and its humidity ratio and to compare its performance with that of a PID control.
The second objective of this work is to manage the energy consumed in all rooms of the building at normal and faulty operation conditions. The faults may be happened in the quantity or temperature of chilled water (hot water) flow rate or in both.
The strategy used in this work depends on the classifying the rooms to three different groups:
1- Very important rooms ( which have near zero error in both temperature and humidity ratio and achieve its final value as fast as possible at all operation conditions)
2- Important rooms( The allowable errors are O.Scc in temperature and 0.5 g/kg in absolute humidity and the response time is slower than the very important rooms)
3- Normal rooms (The allowable errors are 1 CC in temperature and 1 g/kg in absolute humidity and have the slowest response ), one or more room may be closed in case of extreme fault.
