Abstract The present thesis entitled: the distribution of some trace elements in the River Nile from Isna to Al- Kanater, Egypt, along a distance of 805 km, comprises three main chapters. The first one deals with the importancy of the selected metals (iron, manganese, zinc and copper) with respect to aquatic life such as phytoplankton and zooplankton, with indication of sources and the factors affecting their spatial and seasonal distribution for these metals in the aquatic environment. The effects of building Aswan High Dam on Nile water quality and fertility of the sediments beside the degradation of the two banks of the River Nile are explained. Sources of pollution along the River Nile are also given. The previous studies on the distribution of trace metals in water, biota and sediments are also outlined. |
