Abstract The aim of this study was to determine the outcome of liver transplantation for HCC patients in National Liver Institute, Menoufia University as regards survival , morbidity, recurrence rate, and mortality. This study included 23 patients who underwent liver transplantation for HCC in National Liver Institute, Menoufia university in the period between 2003 & 2011. All patients were within Milan criteria and underwent LDLT. The main indication of LT of the studied patients (n=23) was HCC. Overall cumulative 6 months, 1, 3, and 4 year survivals were 73.9%, 73.9%, 73.9%, and 69.5%, respectively, and recurrence rate at 4 years was 13%. Seven (30.7%) deaths were reported post LT. The percentage of mortality posttransplant, early mortality (in the first 6 months) were 6 (26%) deceased recipients, while late mortality (beyond the 6th month ) was 1 (4.3%) deceased recipient. Recipients who developed biliary complications were 7 (30.4%), while recipients who developed CNIs complications were 9 (39%) { recipients who developed nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and de novo DM were 4 (17.3%), 3 (13%), and 2 (8.5%), respectively. Recipients who developed vascular complications were 4 (17.3%), recipients who developed acute rejection were 3 (13%), whereas recipients who developed chronic rejection was 1 (4.3%). |
