Abstract

This study carried out during 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 at Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University in two experiments. The first one to investigate the influence compost at 2.5, 5 and 7.5 ton/feddan) compared to the recommended dose of mineral NPK fertilization and spraying with ascorbic and/or salicylic acids (at 150 and 200 ppm) on black cumin. The obtained results indicated that best treatment was the treatment of mineral NPK (200 kg / fed. of ammonium nitrate, 200 kg / fed. of calcium superphosphate and 100 kg / fed. of potassium sulphate) in combination with a mixture of ascorbic and salicylic acids each at 200 ppm. The second experiment studied the effect of some of the previous treatments and three packaging types (cotton, paper and plastic bags) on the seeds during storage, the results showed that paper the best for germination %, plastic for volatile oil % while, cotton for fixed oil.
