It has an area of about 32.279 km2 and stretching to about 135 km in length, with a population reaches about 4.3 million people. The present work is mainly focused on the evaluation of water resources and its validity for different purposes and detected the sources of contamination levels of surface and groundwater of the Minia district. To achieve the aim of the study, the field sampling (20 surface and 54 groundwater samples) and laboratory works (the chemical analyses of water samples) have been dealt. In addition, the obtained data are drawn in various graphs using soft ware progra-ms, then discussed and interpreted in order to reach the most satisfactory results. To maintain the water quality and control the sources of pollution. Not leaking sewage, agricultural and industrial to waterways and must be dealt with in accordance with the criteria set out by law Environmental Affairs for the Prote-ction of the Nile River and its branches and aquifer pollution.
