Abstract The aim of the present work is to study the effect of high concentrations of Na nacl cacl2 mgcl 2or Na2 SO4 at concentrations ranging from 2500 to 10000 ppm. On germination vegetative growth and yield of barley. Results obtained indicate that the presence of any tested salt in the substrate retards the germinatIon. At all stages of growth the dry weight of plants generally decreases with increasing salt concentrations. Mgcl shows marked toxicity. The uptake of the anions or br br ns decreases with increasing salt concentration except in the case of Cl and Na. |
