Abstract Tissue Doppler imaging provides rapid assessment of systolic and diastolic myocardial function as well as left atrial function in predicting symptoms and outcome of heart failure. Patients with congestive heart failure have impaired functional capacity demonstrated by inability to exercise or six minute walk test distance <300 meters. The aim of that study is to correlate between left atrial and left ventricular function and exercise capacity in patients with CHF. Fifty patients with congestive heart failure underwent echocardiography, tissue Doppler on mitral annulus, exercise ECG(modified Bruce protocol). Patients were divided into two groups according to LAV<90ml and >90ml. There was significant difference between this both groups so measuring left atrial volume and function by echo cardiography can give an idea about LV function and exercise capacity in heart failure patient. . |
