Abstract

Sepsis is the most common cause of neonatal mortality in developing
countries according for 30-50% of total neonatal deaths each year. Prolonged or
repeated courses.
Nosocomial infection patients were defined as all patients who were
neither infected no were in incubation period at the admission time and had
positive culture after third day of admission. VAP means persistent or
appearance of new radiological findings in chest X-rays 48 h. after put the
patient on mechanical ventilator. In this study, we collect 33 neonates “patients”
suffered from clinical picture of sepsis such as [poor neonatal reflexes,
respiratory distress, cyanosis, jaundice, seizure, sclerema and G.I.T problems]
and by done of prospective study on patients after done of routine laboratory
investigations and conventional blood culture and antibiotic sensitivity to
patients and nasal swabs to doctors and nurses and swabs from instruments show
klebsiella pneumonia is the most common organism in neonatal intensive care
unit in Zagazig University Hospital (27.3) followed by E.coli (24.2) and patients
can be diagnosed and suspect type of organism before doing of blood culture by
clinical finding such as klebsiella pnecumonia show respiratory distress and
cyanosis as (100%), (87.5) respectively.
Also, show klebsiella was more sensitive to imipenem and meropenem as
(77.8) and (66.7) respectively and CONS was more sensitive to vancamycin
(80%).
So, by this study show, the ability to diagnose the type of organism of the
nosocomial infection
