Abstract Abstract Chemistry and Biology of Phenolics Isolated from Reaumuria vermiculata (Tamaricaceae) Key Words: Reaumuria vermiculata; Tamaricaceae; Tamarixetin 3,7- di-sulphate; 3-Methoxyellagic acid 4,4’-di-sodium sulphate; 2-O-dehydrodigallic acid monocaboxyloyl-3-O-galloyl-(α/β)-glucose; Vermiculatin; Antioxidant; Cytotoxicity Three new ellagitannins and one disulphated flavonol were isolated from the aqueous methanolic aerial parts extract of Reaumuria vermiculata L. Besides, 16 known compounds were characterized as well. The structures of all compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data including 1D and 2D NMR and ESI HR_FTMS. On the other hand, The in vitro antioxidant activity using the stable free radical DPPH of the extract and also, using the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) method of the extract, its column fractions and two of the isolated ellagitannins were accomplished. In addition, the cytotoxic activity of the extract on 4 human cell lines and the stimulating effect on HaCaT human keratinocytes of the extract and the two new ellgitannins was also assessed. |
