Abstract The present study deals with the sedimentology, petrophysical characteristics and hydrocarbon potentialities of the Bahariya Formation in the Khalda ridge region north Western Desert, Egypt. It also concerns with evaluating the effect of various diagenetic processes on the petrophysical characteristics of the sediments. The samples used for this study were selected from four wells (Salam-lx, Salam-5, Hayat-6 and Kenz-ll wells) distributed in the area of study. Several techniques were applied including: X-ray diffraction analysis, heavy mineral separation, thin sections description and modal analysis aided by the staining technique and scanning electron microscope (~mM) . |
