Abstract Summary Summary This work is composed of four main chapters. The first chapter: introduction In this chapter, a literature survey was carried out and included the following of items:- a) Introduction about importance of hydrazone oximes. b) Importance of oximes and modes of bonding of oxime in metal complexes. c) Defintion, nomenclature and preparation of hydrazones. d) Importance of hydrazones and their metal complexes in the following fields of applications:- 1- Biological application: Antitumor, anti-mycobacterial and antimicrobial activity. 2- Pharmaceutical application: Anti-inflammatory activity, hydrazones in treatment of iron overload diseases, antimalarial, anti-trypanosomal and anti- convulsant. 3- Catalytic applications: In many fields such as some polymerization processes and some chemichal reactions. 4- Analytical applications: Such as separation and determination of traces of metals and determination of some species in pharmaceutical formulations. The second chapter : Review of literature on hydrazones, oximes and hydrazone oximes. This chapter included the following items: Summary 1- Aliterature survey was carried out on hydrazones which include bidentate, tridentate, teradentante, pentadentate, hexadentate, octadentate and nonadentate hydiasone ligands and their corresponding metal complexes. 2- Aliterature survey was carried out on oximes which include types of oximes: simple, carbonyl, vicinal, phenol, hydroxy, imine, pyridine and amine oximes. 3- Literature survey and some examples on hydrazone oximes. The third chapter: Experimental In this chapter, the methods used for the preparation of new hydrazone oxime ligand (isonicotinoyl hydrazone oxime) (H2L), (1) and preparation of its metal complexes for copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II), manganese(II), zinc(II), cadmium(II), mercury(II) and iron(III). The techniques used for characterization of new ligand and its complexes were also described which included: elemental, thermal analyses, infrared spectra, proton magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), mass spectra, electronic absorption spectra (UV-VIS), electron spin resonance (ESR), magnetic also described biological activity of the hydrazone oxime ligand and its metal complexes and determine the invitro cytotoxicity properties against breast cacer (MCF-7) and colon carcinoma (HCT) tumoral cell lines. The fourth chapter:- Results and discussion The analytical and spectral studies showed that the ligand isonicotinoyl hydrazone oxime behaves as anutral bidentate ligand. The second, the ligand behaves as neutral tridentate. The last mode, the ligand behaves as monobasic tridentate. |
