Abstract

In this study, we done screening for ROP to detect the prevelance of ROP and risk factors. This study done at the level of three nurseries 200 eyes of 100 babies screened for ROP. Examination of fundus done by indirect ophthalmoscope after good pupil dilation. In this study, the prevelance of ROP found to be 4% which is lower than other studies. This because of the small studied group. The study done only at the level of three nursieries. Limitations of neonatal and maternal care and the general healthcare system. Conclusion Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a potentially preventable cause of childhood blindness especially in developing countries, where the third epidemic of the disease is now being experienced, and more mature infants are involved. An evaluation of our present screening guidelines for ROP shows that, although screening has been well established for many years, some infants are still missed, most of whom however, are more mature infants with a low risk of ROP. Continuous information about guidelines to neonatologist and ophthalmologists is needed to reduce the loss of ROP cases.
