Abstract

Surgery remains the only hope of cure for early operable breast cancer.
Surgical treatment involve modified radical mastectomy or Conservative
breast surgery (CBS). CBS is now occupying a major segment in the
treatment of breast cancer.
CBS appears to offer advantage over mastectomy with regard to quality of
life and aesthetic outcames. As allows for preservation of breast shape and skin
as well as preservation of sensation and provides an overall psychologic
advantage associated with breast conservation also with advantages of Less
operative time than modified radical mastectomy,Less postoperative hospital
stay and Less disfigurement with better quality of life and the possibility of
salvage mastectomy if local recurrence occurs.
The technique of the operation varies from one author to another. the type of
incisions in the CBS depend on accessibility in obtaining a negative margin
,IBTR (Ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence) and cosmetic outcome of the
different types of incisions .
Regarding the surgical accessibility to removal of the tumors in the UOQ and
the axillary nodes we found that using a single breast incision offers very
good access to both the tumor and the axilla.
CBS and axillary evacuation can be done through single incision either
breast incision or transverse axillary incision with advatages of allowing good
access to the primary tumor and the axilla, gives good cosmetic results in which
the scar lays parallel to the Kraissl’s lines skin and preserves the vascularity and
inervation of the nipple and areola.
Summery and Conclusion
100
we found single curvilinear breast incision is better than single transverse
axillary incision as allow good accessibility to primary tumor and allow taking
more safety margins.
