Abstract The extracts of Chinaberry ”Melia azedarach” fruits were tested against Aphis craccivora. The highest insecticidal effect (LC50 2.5 mg/ml) was obtained from the methanol extract. The Thin layer chromatography was carried out on the crude methanol extract which fractionated the extract to seven fractions. The fraction with Rf 0.97 possessed the maximum insecticidal effect (LC50 0.04mg/ml). The GC-MS analysis revealed that this fraction composed of five compounds; 5-(hydroxymethyl), 2-furancarboxaldehyde, furfurol, hexanoic acid; 4H-pyran-4-one, 2,3-dihydro-3,5-dihydroxy-6-methyl; melianone |
