Abstract

Mucositis are one of the most devastation calamities in patient life that has receiving chemotherapy, they can affect the psychological well being as well as the quality of life for cancer patients. Unfortunately oral health befor, during and after course of chemotherapy is not always given adequate attention, resulting in oral infections. Being an integral part of nursing care, oral hygiene, and early detection as of a special importance for chemotherapeutic patients with advanced mucositis.
In Egypt, there are minimal studies and substantial literateurs, describing oncology nursing management as regards oral hygiene, as well as the effects of different oral rinses, assessment and early detection of mucositis. The aim of this was to, Effect of Nystatin versus Tahini on the oral mucosal inflammation of cancer patient receiving chemotherapy.
The study was carried out at the oncology out-patient clinic of Alexandria
Main University Hospital. The sample comprised 100 adult cancer patients receiving chemotherapy who are equally divided into two groups oral rinses, those patients were considered similar regarding all kind of cancers and receiving chemotherapy, they were free from metastasis, chronic illness and non smokers …. As well as they were controlled regarding receive anti-tumor anti-biotic----, anti-metabolities, conscious, first chemotherapy session and in inflammatory phase (phase I) includes erythema and painless ulcers.
To fulfill the aim of the study ”The Oral Status Nursing Assessment Sheet” was developed by the researcher based on the related literateur.
It comprised two parts:
Part I: This part included items related to bio-socio-demographic data such as age, occupation, sex, laboratory value, prescribed medication, type of chemotherapy and level of education .
Part II: This part included oral mucosal status observation and examination of changes in the oral mucosal texture, color and vascular mucosal status of the lips, oral mucosa, saliva and teeth or effect of dentures. This part has got a ranked of scales ranging from mild to sever changes.
Tool Two: This part included patient’s subjective report by ask to indicate on 10 points Linear Scale their perception related: To the general effectiveness of the line of treatment and The degree of comfort derived from their management.
