Abstract This study was conducted to study the occurrence of some zoonotic enteric protozoa in human beings and animals and also to clarify the role of the animal in transmitting such protozoa to man. For this purpose the following points were investigated: I- The occurrence of the intestinal protozoan parasites ill human beings. II- The occurrence of the intestinal protozoan parasites in calves and lambs. Ill- The occurrence of the intestinal protozoan parasites in fish. IV- Molecular characterization of Cryptospridium spp., Giardia spp and Entamoeba spp. in the faecal samples of human and animals. EXPERIMENT I Occurrence of the intestinal protozoa in human beings, animals and fish. A- Occurrence of intestinal protozoa in human beings:- A total of 310 persons (154 diarrhoeic and 156 apparently healthy) with a history of animal contact were surveyed for the presence of intestinal protozoa. The examined persons were attending Al-Ahrar general Hospital and Ultra private laboratory, Zagazig City, Sharkia province.
