Abstract In our course of a continuous program for investigation of some medicinal and/or economic local plants, the entitled one Synadenium grantii was studied for structure elucidation and characterization of its components. Literature survey revealed that the plant has some biological activities and other some applications. In this study, the aerial parts of the plant S. grantii grown in Egypt were processed according to Scheme (1) and the following compounds were identified, characterized and classified as the following groups: 1- Acetogenins (fats derivatives): Long chain saturated hydrocarbons, Unsaturated olefinic hydrocarbons, Alicyclic compound with one saturated side chain, Alicyclic saturated monocyclic with 24-membered ring size and Oxygenated aliphatic compounds (ketones, alcohols, ethers, acids, esters). 2- Terpenoids : Monoterpenes, Sesquiterpenes, Diterpenes and triterpenes. 3- Steroids. 4- Shikimates, aromatics. 5- Anthraquinones. 6- Flavonoids. |
