Abstract The date is an erect palm to 100 or 120 ft (30.5-36.5 m), the trunk clothed from the ground up with upward-pointing, overlapping, persistent, woody leaf bases. After the first 6 to 16 years, numerous suckers will arise around its base. The feather-like leaves, up to 20 ft (6 m) long, are composed of a spiny petiole, a stout midrib, and slender, gray-green or bluish-green pinnae 8 to 16 in (20-40 cm) long, and folded in half lengthwise. Dates provide a wide range of essential nutrients, and are a very good source of dietary potassium. The sugar content of ripe dates is about 80%; the remainder consists of protein, fiber, and trace elements including boron, cobalt, copper, fluorine, magnesium, manganese, selenium, and zinc. This study collected only three types of the commonly consumed dates in Egypt were used. These types are well known because of their common preference, popularity, economic price, as well as the high availability through out the year (1- Shamia 2- Shabah 3- Bartamoda) . They were divided into four groups; each group consists of 5 pupils 1. The first group served as control group eating normal. 2. The second group eats 7 dates ” Shamia ” every morning . 3. The second group eats 7 dates ” Shabah ” every morning . 4. The second group eats 7 dates ” Bartamoda” every morning For 6 months 5. Determination the quantity according to the hadeeth Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih from ’Amir ibn Sa’d that his father said: The Prophet (Peace and Blessing upon Him) said: ”Whoever eats SUMMARY 139 ’Ajwah dates every morning will not be harmed by poison or witchcraft all that day until night comes.” Fath Al-Bari, 10/249. After six months the effect of the different experimental dates on blood components, stool components, oxidative stress enzymes, molecular study DNA And in vitro studied ”micro nucleus test” to determent it’s protective from toxicity. The results of the present study can be summarized as follows: 1. The type 1 contained 87.89, 1.4, 0.5, 0.8, 2.2 and 361.66% carbohydrates, protein, lipids, fiber ash and total carbohydrates respectively. Concerning type 2, it was found to contain0.9, 0.2, 2.8, 0.6, 86.85 and 352.8 % protein, lipids, fiber, ash, carbohydrates and total calories respectively, while in case of type 3 contained 2.5, 0.8, 2.9, 0.9, 83.78 and 352.32% of the same content respectively. 2. from these results it could be noticed that, the type 3 the highest in protein, lipid and fiber while type 1 contained high in carbohydrates and total calories. type 1 was higher in zinc while, type 2 was the best in calcium and iron. Type 2 and 3 had equal amount of selenium which were higher than type1. 3. The levels after eating showed a significant difference with the levels of hemoglobin before eating. There is no significant difference between type 1&3 before eating and between type 1 after eating & type 2 before eating. The account of blood cells was SUMMARY 140 higher after eating on three types of dates than before the eating; the best type was type 2 which caused the best account of blood cells. The levels of blood platelets was improved after the eating on all types of dates and the best one was type2 which had the best effect and kept the levels of blood platelets in normal range. 4. The white blood cells account showed in type 1 levels4.73± 1. 13, 5.78± 1. 28 and 5.17± 0. 45Cmm for type 1, 2 and 3, respectively before eating and 3.70 ± 0.50,4.30 ± 0. 97 and 4. 10 ± 0.36Cmm for the same types respectively but after eating on the tested dates. 5. The glutathione (GSH) level in the control groups was lower than that of other three groups (Table 6). Catalase activity in the liver of children fed the type 3 was drastically reduced to less than half the value obtained for control values. The values for the children fed types 2 and 1 were not different from that of the control values. 6. Glutathione-S-Transferase (GST) activity was found to increase in the type 2 group when compared to the control. type 1 did not alter the values when compared to the corresponding treated groups. 7. In Micronucleus test, there found cell with one nucleus, two nucleuses, three nucleuses and more. In 0.5-1 % of normal cases in all type of dates .But in our studied all student eat the different types of date so the macronuclei was absent . 8. In molecular study DNA, the control sample shown very small bright shadow as usual. But the kids eat date the bright shadow was absent as indication to the DNA clearly. |
