Abstract Diabetes is a major public health problem that imposes a serious burden on individuals and on society. Psychological and social state can impact the women’s ability to carry out diabetes care tasks. As a result, health status may be compromised. The aim of the present study is to identify the psychosocial concerns of diabetic women in Kafr El-sheikh governorate. The study was carried out in eight out patient clinics in Kafr –Elsheikh general hospitals namely Dosouk, Fowa,Motobis, Sedi Salem, Qullin, Baltime, Bila, and Kafr Elsheikh hospitals . The studied sample was (500) diabetic women were selected had diabetes mellitus for more than one year and free from any other chronic disease. The diabetic women were interviewed individually by the researcher to fill out the tools. (Data was collected during the period from April 2008 until the end November 2008). Two tools were used by the researcher in order to collect the data. Tool I: Questionnaire sheet was used to collect information about socio-demographic characteristics such as age, education, occupation, income, marital status. And also medical history, lab investigation for level of blood sugar, and current treatment, calculate body mass index to determine the nutritional status and physical exercises. Tool II: - Quality of Life assessment Questionnaire scale used to assess the (satisfaction, impact of diabetes, worry related to social relation, and worry related diabetes) of the diabetic women. |
