Abstract

The Current Study Was Designed to evalute the noninvasive clinical laboratory and ultrasonographic parammeters, for screening if the presence of esophageal varices and to identify the Egyptian cirrhotic patients who are in need for screening upper GI endoscopy; and if possible to develop a predictive model using independent risk factors for presence of variens in the enrolled patients. This cross sectional study included 49 adult subjects with liver cirrhosis, of both genderes (33 males and 16 females), with mean age (51.3#7.5), ranged between 35-70 years. All were exaamined, investigated and followed up in the inpatient & outpatient clinic of the suez Canal University Hospital, Ismailia city, Egypt, during the period from August 2010 and january 2011.
