Abstract
The quality of life encompasses the elders 1 sense of well being. level of
satisfaction with life, and feeling of self-worth and self--esteem. In the concept of
health, there are four major domains of the quality of life; these comprise health and
functioning. socioeconomic involvement, psychological and spiritual responses. and
relationship with others. Aim: the aim of this study was to assess quality of life
among the elder in Port-Said city. Subject and Methods: the study subject were
consisted of 230 elders 1n geriatric clubs and geriatric homes in port-said city. ’two
tools was used to collect data of The study, au interviewing questionnaire. LEIPAD
quality of life questionnaire scale and. Results: the results revealed that, most of the
elders showed some forms of impairment in physical, psychological, social and
spiritual domains, which could reflect in a passive consequence upon the elders’ QOL.
On the other hand, the study proved that there are many factors affect life satisfaction
and QOL of the elders. This could be back I<> physical dysfunction, family
disengagement, living alone~ level of education and income .Conclusion: the study
concluded that most of the elders showed impairment in their quality of life in various
degrees in one or more the domains of the quality of life either the physical social,
psychological or spiritual.
