Abstract

Agent technology is a novel approach for the development of distributed systems. In particular, mobile agents can provide much greater flexibility and robustness than the traditional distributed systems methodologies since they provide mobility from platform to platform. Thus, they form a wide area of research. Especially in the last several years, numerous applications of mobile agents have emerged, including e-commerce, e-voting and distributed data mining. On the other hand, Mobile agent technology suffers from several problems .one key problem faced by the mobile agent systems is security. A migrating agent can face many threats while migrating to a host / agent platform. Similarly the platform can be maliciously affected by an agent. A number of different approaches have been suggested in the literature to deal with security of mobile agents. This thesis gives an overview of mobile code paradigm and the main security issues related to the mobile agent paradigm including security requirements, number of security threats both to the agents themselves and to the servers that they visit, and introduces general purposes techniques used to protect agent against malicious hosts. This thesis also proposes a web-based mobile agent simulation for e-commerce application called ”order Product” system. This system provides users with information of products for sale in an electronic marketplace. Advantages of order Product include such properties as reduction of communication costs and delegation of tasks, which are the intrinsic advantages of a mobile agent system. . The basic design, functionality and implementation of order Product system will be described, the performance of this system also will be measured with different configurations. Possible security attacks by malicious hosts to agents in the order Product system are discussed, and specific solutions to prevent these attacks are proposed by applying hybrid of traditional security mechanisms based on Encryption techniques . RSA and AES algorithms are proposed for using as encryption techniques, Security level of proposed solutions is analyzed, and some performance measures are performed under different situations.
