Abstract
Dietary behaviors and patterns differ from one country to another and from one place to another in the country. Good nutrition is important throughout the life cycle. Early adolescence is a time of rapid physical growth and development, healthy eating habits could be developed during early adolescences. Therefore they may be exposed of nutritional problems such as malnutrition (over and under nutrition)
There are many of unhealthy dietary behaviors and habits can affect negatively on current adolescents health and later. So, regular and periodic evaluation of their nutritional status is an essential part of a complete health appraisal.
As, one of the assignments of the pediatric nurse assessment of the nutritional status of early adolescents and explore the cases which required to health and nutrition care with providing help for them and their family. The pediatric nurse must be assess nutrition data of early adolescents as patterns of meals, and eating between meals, adequate amount, range of consumption of vegetables, fruits and dairy products, and nutrition resources to know any decrease and treatment it. Also, she must encourage, motivate and guide early adolescents on healthy dietary behaviors and habits.
The aim of the present study was to Identify the nutritional patterns of early adolescents at Alexandria City. The study was conducted in governmental and private preparatory schools from three zones (Middle, West, and El-Gomrok) which were selected randomly from different administrative zones (East, Middle, West, El-Montaza and El-Gomrok) at Alexandria City.
