Abstract

Lambada Cyhlothrine is a new pyrethroid insecticide used all over the world to control the insect on wide rang in a variety of crops, and used as vector control (mosquito). The present study was designed to investigate the protective effect of vitamin C. on the toxicological effects of lambda cyhalothrin on the body weight, hematological parameters, serum biochemical studies, sperm gram and histopathological changes.
In this study eighty adult male albino rats were divided into four groups of 20 rats of each one.
group I : Rats served as control and received tap water.
group II: Rats served as experimental received vitamin C at dose 200ppm in drinking water daily for two month.
group III: Rats served as experimental received Lambada Cyhlothrine at dose 100mg/kg B.w. 3 day per week for 2months orally by using stomach tube.
group IV: Rats served as experimental received Lambada Cyhlothrine at dose 100mg/kg B.w. three time/weekly orally by stomach tube plus vitamin C 200ppm in drinking water daily continuously for 2months.
The experiment was continued for 8 th week during which rats in all groups were observed daily. Body weight of rats was evaluated weekly. Collection of blood samples were performed at4th&8thweek of experiment. Blood samples were divided in to blood for hematological studies collected on heparinzed tubes and serum for biochemical analysis . The testes and epididimyis from each rat were collected after 8th week for seminal evaluation.Histopathological studies were done on liver,kidney,spleen,heart and testis at 4th and 8th weeks.
The obtained results in this study could be summarized as follows:
The initial body weight of rats in different group showed no statistical difference. The final body weight of rats group III; rat received Lambada Cyhlothrine, showed a significant decrease in compared to group I & II; control rats and rats received vit C respectively. While the rats in group I; control and group II, rats received vit C showed significant increase in body weight followed by rats in group IV; rat received Lambada Cyhlothrine plus vit C. The improvement of the body weight in rats of group received lambda cyhalothrin plus vit C. revaled to that the vit C. act as antioxidant which can protect the effect of Lambada Cyhlothrine an body weight.
The results of erythrocytic count, hemoglobin concentration and packed cell volume showed significant decrease in group III, rats received Lambada Cyhlothrine in compared of other experimental group after 4th and 8th weeks of experiment. While the rats in group I (control) showed significant increase in red blood cell count after 4th and 8th weeks of experiment. There was no statistical difference in RBC’s count between rats in group II; rats received vit C and group IV; rat received lambda cyhalothrin plus vit C. after 4th week. Also there was no statistical differences in hemoglobin concentration and packed cell volume in group I (control), group II; rat received vti C and group IV; rat received lLambada Cyhlothrine plus vit C.
The total leucocytic count was significant increase at 4th and 8th week in group III rats received Lambada Cyhlothrine in compare with other groups. Also after 4th & 8th of the experiment rats that administrate Lambada Cyhlothrine showed significant increase in lymphocytes count, neutrophiles count, monocyte count and esinophiles count. While group I control, group II rats received vitamin c and group IV rats received lambda cyhalothrin plus vitamin c showed no statistical difference in total leucocytic counts, neurophiles, lymphocyte, monocyte and Esinophiles. Regarding to the biochemical results ALT, AST and ALP level showed significant increase in group III; rats received Lambada Cyhlothrine in compare with group I (control) and group II rat received vit. C followed by group IV, rat received Lambada Cyhlothrine plus vit C.
The improvement in the biochemical serum ALT, AST and ALP in group IV, rats received Lambada Cyhlothrine plus vit C. revealed to the act of antioxidant of vit C.
Regarding to total protein, albumin and globuline revealed significant decrease in total protein, albumin and globuline at 4th & 8th week of experiment in group III rats treated with Lambada Cyhlothrine. While there was no statistical difference in total protein albumine and globuline in group I control, group II rat received vitamin C. the group IV rats received LCT plus vitamin C showed non significant higher level of total protein, albumine and globuline. This due to vitamin C act to over come the oxidative stress of Lambada Cyhlothrine.
Concerning to the level of serum urea, uric acid and creatnine of group III rats received Lambada Cyhlothrine were significant increase. While there were no statistical difference in urea, uric acid and creatinine in group I control, group II rats received vitamin c. While level of serum urea, uric acid and creatinine in group IV group Lambada Cyhlothrine plus vitamin C showed non significant higher then group I and group II. This improvement is revealed to vitamin C which act as antioxidant.
Regarding to spermgram studies the effect of Lambada Cyhlothrine on testis, Epididymis weight and sperm number were significant decrease in group III rats received lambda cyhalothrin where sperm abnormality showed significant increase. There were no statistical difference in sperm count group I control, group II rat received vitamin C which showed significant increase in sperm count. These result improved in group IV, rats received LCT plus vitamin C. The improvement in sperm count and sperm abnormalities attributed to vitamin C (antioxidant) which reduce the production of (ROS) due to Lambada Cyhlothrine.
The histopathological examination of liver,kidney,spleen,heart and testis of rat administrated Lambada Cyhlothrine revealed alternation in histological structure of this organs at 4th and 8th weeks of experiment.While the group of rat recived Lambada Cyhlothrine plus vitamin c showed less or no histopathological finding.
