Abstract

Offshore pipelines considered one of the most imp0l1ant methods for transporting oil and natural gas produced from the offshore oil fields, this research discuss the sequential steps for design an offshore natural gas pipeline transp0l1 about 410 million standard cubic feet per day from offshore oil field in the gulf of sues ¬Egypt - to the western coast of the gulf of sues near Ras shukair city.
The research discuss the hydraulic design of the natural gas pipeline which determine the pipeline inner diameter according to the gas flow rate, terminals pressure, terminals temperature, pipeline length and gas chemical composition.
The research discuss the mechanical design of the offshore pipeline which determine the pipeline wall thickness required to withstand the internal pressure, the external hydrostatic pressure and the installation stresses during the installation phase, the research also illustrates the sequential steps for the offshore pipelines laying using traditional S-laying barges.
