Abstract Study of bacterial infections in cirrhotic patients is important because the incidence of bacterial infections in these patients is very high and associated with high morbidity and mortality. The main objective of this work is to asses the different types of bacterial infections in cirrhotic patients admitted in Shebin El-Koom fever hospital in Al Menufiya, its prognosis, the early diagnosis with least number of investigation and adequate therapeutic management with least number of drugs to save time ,money ,and efforts. The present study was carried out on 80 subjects. The studied subjects were divided into (3) main groups: Group 1: (20) non Cirrhotic patients with evidence of bacterial infection. Group 2: (20) Cirrhotic patients with no evidence of bacterial infection. Group 3: (40) Cirrhotic patients with suspected bacterial infections. All subjects were submitted to: (1) Good clinical evaluation. (2) Proper investigations as the following: - Complete blood count. - Liver functions: • Serum bilirubin. • ALT & AST. • Serum albumin. • Prothrombin time & concentration. |
