Abstract Feeding honey bee is one of the vital important process to honey bee and so to the beekeeper, honey bee require carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and water to be able to rear brood. Most of carbohydrate comes from nectar, while proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins usually come from pollen. Nectar is a glandular secretion of plants, usually collected at the bases of flowers that bees depend upon for their energy source. Nectar normally contains a low to moderate concentration of sugar, and honey bees dehydrate nectar to produce honey. There are barely measurable amount of proteins, vitamins and other nutrients in nectar, especially if a little pollen becomes incorporated into it. |
