Abstract The characteristics of impinging flame on a flat surface are investigated such as gas temperature, concentrations of CO2 and O2 inside the furnace and the heat transfer to the furnace walls. The effects of separation distance between the flame jets and the plate on flame characteristics involve the measurement of gas temperature and emissions are investigated and presented. A simple mathematical model has been constructed and solved by FORTRAN program for the calculation of radiative heat transfer from the impinging plate to the furnace walls. The calculated values are compared with the measured values. The computed heat transfer values showed good qualitatively agreement with the measured values. |
