Abstract

SUMMARY
Quality of life, in End Stage Renal Disease patients, has become a focus of attention in evaluating hemodialysis. These patients experience severe disruptions of lifestyle, such as limitations in physical activity and social life and many encounter difficulties in coping with their disease and the uncertainty of their future. Our study was conducted on 80 children, divided into two groups. The first group comprised 60 cases of End Stage Renal Disease divided into two subgroups. Forty cases maintained on chronic regular Hemodialysis were enrolled in the first subgroup. They were selected from the hemodialysis unit of the Center of Pediatric Nephrology and Transplantation, Cairo University. Twenty cases, renal transplant recipients, with a well functioning renal graft, on maintenance lifelong immunosuppression medications, were enrolled in the second subgroup. They were selected from the outpatient clinic of renal transplantation, Cairo University. The second group involved 20 normal children, serving as a control group. They were the siblings of the End Stage Renal Disease group.
