Abstract The thesis comprises four chapters. Chapter 1 deals with a general review of the structures and reactivates of the different kinds of thiourea and thiosemicarbazide derivatives and their metal complexes. Chapter 2 includes the methods of preparing the ligands ; 4-allyl- 1-(2-hydroxebenzoyl) thiosemicabenzide (AHBTS; C11H13N3O2S), 4-ethyl-1-(2-hydroxybenzoyl) thiosemicabenzide (EHBTS; C10H13 N3O2S) and 4-phenyl-1-(2-hydroxybenzoyl) thiosemicabenzide (PHBTS; C14H13N3O2S) . Also this chapter describes the methods of preparation of the binary and the mixed complexes derived from 2,2’-dipyridyl with Cu(II), Co(II) and Zn(II) salts . The experimental techniques used are also described. Chapter 3 includes the results and discussion Chapter 4 deals with the biological effects of the genotoxicity on the calf-thymus DNA for the ligands and some of their metal complexes. The results indicated the effect of these compounds in case of AHBTS is as follow: (AHBTS; C11H13N3O2S) > [Cu(L-2H)1/2EtOH] {C1SA} > [Zn(*dipy)(L2-2H)] {C3A} In case of PHBTS the order these effects is as follows: (HBPTS; C14H13N3O2S) > [Co(*dipy)(L-2H)].1.5EtOH.3H2O {C2PH} > [Cu(L-2H)(EtOH)( H2O)2].H2O {C1SPH} Finally, in case of EHBTS the results suggested that the effect on DNA is as follow: [Cu(L-H)2].EtOH {C1SE} (sp3) > [Zn2(*dipy)(OH)(L-3H)(H2O)].1/2EtOH {C3E} (sp3 + sp3d > [Co(*dipy)(L-2H)].3H2O {C2E} (dsp3) > (EHBTS; C10H13N3O2S). All these foundation have been explained. Finally, the thesis is ended with a list of references cited through this work. |
