Abstract

Laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) has become a widely accepted and commonly performed surgical refractive procedure. With the rapid advances in laser technology and surgical techniques, the visual outcomes and safety of this procedure has significantly improved (Franzco and Kim,2010). Laser in situ keratomileus has distinct advantages over surface ablation procedures with its rapid visual recovery, less regression, reduced haze with higher correction, less susceptibility to infection and minimal postoperative pain and discomfort ( Varley et al .,2004). Laser in situ keratomileusis is not usually performed in children with myopia because myopia does not stabilize until early adulthood. However treatment –resistant anisometropic amblyopia is a strong medical indication for LASIK treatment (Agrawal et al., 2000).
