Abstract
Owing to worldwide interest in complementary medicine including
the effect of massage therapy on health of neonates, this study was done.
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of massage therapy on
weight and duration of stay of low birth weight preterm neonates. A
sample of sixty neonates was selected to carry out this study. The study
was conducted at neonatal Intensive Care Units of Shebin El-Kom
Teaching Hospital and El- Gameia EL-Sharea for Neonates at Shebin El-
Kom city. The study was utilized a quasi experimental design to examine
the effect of massage therapy on weight and duration of stay of low birth
weight preterm neonates The results of this study showed that neonates
in the experimental group gained more weight than neonates in the control
group. Also, neonates in the experimental group were hospitalized for
fewer days than neonates in the control group.
