Abstract It has been an important indication of mankind’s civilization process that utilizes any types of power to help or totally replace the human labour since the beginning of the human history. Water resources are so important to human beings that they are essential living conditions for survival, so most of the ancient civilization sites were located along the rivers. HyDROPower is one of the oldest forms of natural energy that our ancestors harnessed, and using waterpower to generate electricity represents more than one century of technology, which is almost as old as the invention of the electricity generating. However, how to make the hydroelectric generating process safer, more reliable and more efficient is still an active research field, in which there are still spaces for improvement. The dynamic performance and control for hydroelectric power plant is the neural centre of the plant and the most rapidly developing field in the hydro electrical engineering. Egypt gave a great interest in utilizing the hydroelectric power to produce electricity more than 100 years ago. Today, About 90% of the Nile River’s energy potential in Egypt has been utilized; the remaining 10% of the Nile River’s energy potential is ranked in low head category. Steps have been taken to harness these low head potentials. This requires the installation of small and many hydroelectric power plants. One of these plants has already been commissioned at El-Lahoun, and the remained will be followed subsequently up to 2017. |
