Abstract In this work 36 cases of benign, dysplastic and malignant liver lesions were obtained from the archival material at Pathology Department, Ain Shams Faculty of Medicine and Ain Shams Specialized Hospital. This immunohistochemical study aimed to search for alternation in endothelial cell marker CD34 in benign, dysplastic and malignant liver lesions. The cases were classified into 3 groups: Group I contains 13 benign cases, 3 cases were females and 10 were males, their ages ranged from 2 months to 65 years. Group II contains 8 cases of liver dysplasia, 3 cases were females and 5 were males, their ages ranged from 57 years to 80 years and Group III contains 15 cases of HCC, 2 cases were females and 13 were males, their ages ranged from 41 years to 58 years. Concerning the relationship between our 3 studied groups and patients’ sex it was statistically insignificant Concerning the relationship between our 3 studied groups and the patients’ age it was statistically significant. . All cases were subjected to: - Evaluation of histopathological features. - Evaluation of Immunohistochemical staining by CD34. - Evaluation of special staining by reticulin stain. CD34 positivity was assessed and into four grades negative, minimal, focal and diffuse .For the benign cases; peripheral pattern of sinusoidal CD34 expression were observed. |
