Abstract The geological history of the area under consideration will be constructed in the following lines as deduced from the field observations as well as the geologic relationship of the different rock units. The greater part of the area is considered to represent an old land surface bordering from the east a geosynclinical basin. The assumed old land surface may represent in fact a swell within the geosyncline where the latter extends westwards and apparently becomes more deep. The earliest event in the geological history of this area was the slow deposition of a thick succession of sediments under geosynclinal conditions in the south western part of the area. |
