Abstract
the main purpose of the research is to examine the contribution of gated communiities to urban development in greater cairo region egypt. it investigates the socio-spatial impact of gated communities on achieved development in egypt, it investigates the impact of gates features on the determination of gated communities physical characteristics in order ti achieve urban development.
the insufficient research and consequently the weak knowledge on the unique urban planning required in development with gated communities , lead state, developers, planners, residents to consider gated communities as the key solution for many contemporary city problems , the matter that make them not only transplant gated communities with in unique context like egypt , but also to use the same development control tools that were used before with non-gated commuities with attempt to make the proper adjustment.
