Abstract
Two experiments were carried out at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University during the period 1990 and 1992.
A- Germplasm evaluation experiment:
The main objective of this trial was to study the variability in some vegetative and agronomic characters of hundred grain sorghum genotypes representing three groups, i. e. eighty-nine local collections which were collected from farmer`s fields at Assiut, Sohag and Qena governorates in addition to five foreign introductions and six commercial varieties. These genotypes were studied and evaluated as a part of NARP 093 project program.
The experimental design was the simple Lattic with repeating the basic design twice. The genotypes were sown on 21st and 12nd June in 1990 and 1991 seasons, respectively. The experimental plot was two rows, six meters long and 60 cm apart, hills were spaced 20 cm apart.
