Abstract
The area of Gabal El Rubshi is characterized by the occurrence of ultrabasic and basic rocks, which are differentiated into:
1) completely serpentinized ultramfics.
2) Metagabbro-diorite complex and sheeted dykes.
3) Basic metavolcanics.
4) Clinopyroxenites and troctolites.
The first three divisions are regionally weakly metamorphosed whereas the fourth one is unmetamorphosed and certainly younger. The regionally metamorphosed ultrabasic basic rocks constitute an ophiolite association, referred to as the Rubshi ophiolite association. This association represents the theme of the present thesis.
