Abstract

This study was performed with the aim of evaluating the
effects of adeno tonsillar hypertrophy on the nasal airflow before
and after adeno tonsillectomy. as measured by Anterior
rhinomanometry.
Adenotonsillar hypertrophy is a common disorder in
children resulting in nasopharyngeal obstruction with resultant
mouth breathing and! or snoring.
At present. upper airway obstruction due to hypertrophy of
the tonsils and adenoids with consequent hypoventillation and
cor pulmonale has come to be called the cardio pulmonary
syndrome (Spa ur RC, 198’2).
This work was conducted on 100 patients (64 males and 36
Females) age range from 4 to 12 years.
These patients were suffering from adeno tonsillar
hypertrophy with all its attending manifestations.
All these patients were subjected to detailed analysis of their
full oto-Rhino-Laryngological e xami na t ion.
