Abstract Ninety mature male and female rats were employed in this study. They were divided into 9 equal groups each of 10 (5 males & 5 females). The first group was served as universal control group. The second group received ciprofloxacin (1.8 mg/lOO gm b.wt.) i.p daily for 5 days. The third group was given rifampicin (2.25 mg/IOO gm.b.wt.) i.p daily for 5 days. The fourth group received testosterone (2.5 mg/lOO gm b.wt.) given as single S.C dose 24 hours before blood sampling and served as testosterone control group. The 5th group received progesterone hormone (1.25 mgll 00 b.wt.) given as a single S.C injection 24 hours before blood sampling and served as a progesterone control group. Sixth group received ciprofloxacin in the same previous dose daily for 5 days in addition to testosterone 24 hours before blood sampling. The seventh group received ciprofloxacin in the dose given to 2nd group daily for 5 days plus progesterone 24 hours before blood sampling. The eights group received rifampicin in the same dose given to 3rd group daily for 5 days in addition to a single S.C injection of testosterone 24 hours before blood sampling. |
