Abstract This work was carried out at the Agricultural Experental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut and in hag Governorate throughout the period from 1987 to 1989. e tested umbelliferous plants were cumin, caraway and nise. The pollination requirements of umbelliferous lants in Upper Egypt. need more study. Thus,work was lanned to study the following subject in Assiut and Sohag overnorates 1- List of insect pollinators on flowering cumin, caraway and anise plants in Assiut and Sohag Governorates. 2 - Seasonal and daily activity of dipterous pollinators and bees and their relation with weather factors in Assiut and Sohag Governorates. 3 — Effect of insect poll i nati on on quantity and quality of cumin, caraway and anise seeds, in Assiut. The results can be summarized as follows: On cumin, only one hymenopterous species (Apis meiJi— fera) and six flies species were found in Assiut, while in Sohag, two hymenopterous and six dipterous species were recorded. The most abundant dipterous species in both Governorates was: Melanogromyza thaseoji Tryon. On caraway, Leptocera vagans Duda was the most abundant dipterous species and Apis mellifera L. was the most abundant hymenopterous species in Assiut and Sohag., |
