Abstract Prostate cancer is the most cancer in men and the second greatest cause of cancer mortality in men. Disease awareness has grown considerably in the past two decades leading to a greater emphasis on early disease detection. Currently one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. The major factor in this has been the introduction of prostate specific antigen (PSA) testing as part of the detection and management of prostate disease. Early detection has been further complemented by refinements in several approaches to the treatment of clinically localized prostate cancer. |
