Abstract

Bacterial control represents one of the important riee.sures causing a considerable decline in destnctive insect popuaations. Unfrotunately this field still needs further attention in U.A.R. since the imported p’2hoen acil1us thuringiouzis was the only species of the bacterial hogons studied recentl7 in Egypt. Besides, no cosiderable attempts have been recorded to isolatø pathogens locally from disease pests.
In order to obtain sovzo inforuation in this uiold the present work was conducted with the purpose of imow— in some aspects related to the bacterial microbe which occurrs in Egyptian environzaent. A strain of Sarratia raarceccens Bizio, was isolated front the diseased lasvae of the cotton leatworm, frpodotera littoralia, in Plant Protection laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University. Such strain was tested against . littoralis , S exigua and Eu.prepocnemis plorans.
