Abstract Maryout Lake is one of the major lakes in the northern coast of Egypt. EI Mex Bay, west of Alexandria, represents the closest connection between the lake and Mediterranean Sea. Maryout Lake (17,000 Feddan) is currently artificially divided into 5 basins called: Main, Fishers, Northwest, Southwest, and west basins. The economic value of the lake as a commercial fishing area had declined tremendously and its productivity is decreased. Main sources of pollution |
