Abstract Diabetes mellitus is caused, in most of cases, by diminished rate of secretion of insulin by the beta cells of the langerhan’s for the islets utilization of glucose by the body cells, with a resultant increase in blood glucose, abnormal fat metabolism as well as deposition of lipids in vascular walls to cause atherosclerosis and depletion of protein in body tissues. Other related symptoms are polyphagia and loss of weight. The most important components of diabetic management are diet and insulin. The relationship between diet and diabetic is important from the stand point of treatment. |
