Abstract In Egypt more than 30 million tons of agro- wastes are annually produced, most of these wastes are used by farmers for baking or cooking and contribute to environmental pollution. In this study an attempts were carried out to convert lignocellulosic agro-wastes like Rice Straw, Bagasse and Potato waste also domestic Garbage to ethanol which is very important industrial compound. 1- Bagasse, Rice Straw, Potato waste, and garbage were employed in this work, 3 runs were conducted, the first was done using the four wastes. fermentation by using schaomycess cerviacae AFZ-998 from laboratory of National Research Center which is applied in Hawamdyea Company in Giza 2- the 2nd run was conducted by adding whey permeate waste from 0.5 to 5.0 ml,fermentation was done using Scharomycess cerviacae and Klavromycess Faragilias from laboratory of National Research Center 3- the 3rd run was done using garbage, rice straw, bagasse and potato peel hydrolysis was added as to enhance the yield of ethanol, fermentation by using schaomycess cerviacae 4- Acid hydrolysis was done for the four wastes as a pretreatment method. 5- Measurements of this work include ; 1-Riches of alcohol (RA) in fermented mash was determined ,the initial glucose as well as the reducing sugars (RS) were measured enzymatically using glucose oxidase - peroxidase Kit of bio Mereux , reducing sugars were measured using method of Miller 1959. 6- 2- Glucose in the hydrolyzates was determined enzymatically according to the method of Thinder (1969). Fermentation was done under static conditions. So as to measure the following factors to apply for ethanol production: • Effect of sugar concentrations using11 concentrations (0.5-1-2-3-4-5-10-15-20-25-30)% . • Effect of fermentation periods, using five periods of fermentations used (24-36-42-48-60) hrs Effect of type of waste, different concentrations of sugars and different periods of Fermentation. Were studied. Results for optimizing conditions for acid hydrolysis for the used waste samples revealed that: maximum conditions for Rice straw and Potato, were achieved at 4 hours, 8% sulpharic acid concentration, temp of 100 ºC and 20 grams weight which contain 1.9 % and 7.2% total sugars respectively, For the garbage maximum conditions were achieved at1 hr,10%sulpharic acid concentration ,temperature of 35 ºC and 20 grams which contain 3.6% total sugars, while bagasse the maximum conditions were achieved at 4hr , 4 % sulpharic acid concentration ,temperature of 35 ºC and 25 grams which yielded 1.97 total sugars. |
